The trip was from the 31st of March till the 4th of April with students from the 9th and 10th grade and our three chaperones Mr Meeter, Ms Olliges and Mrs Sherifi.
The goal of this journey was to get to know the English language and culture better.
Our five-day trip started in Sehnde at 6am. From there we had to drive hours to the coast of France, from this point we took a ferry to the cliffs of Dover where we even had the opportunity to see the famous limestones from afar.
Soon after arriving in England we met our host families and each of us was taken to our respective houses.
On the first day we drove to the cliffs of Dover at 7:30 am and had a long hike along them to the lighthouse. After the hike we went to Folkestone where we had some hours of free time. Most of the students used the time to buy something to eat, to explore the city or go shopping.
The second day was probably the day most students looked forward to: the daytrip to London. Firstly we went to Greenwich. There we went to a market and were close to the meridian time. After that we took a boat tour along lots of famous sights, the London Eye and the Tower Bridge for example, and then we had some free time again .
The third day was a less packed one. We went to the place where the English language was founded and saw some old castle ruins. Then we hiked again (our teachers love to hike which is why we did it every day) downtown next to a pier where the students got to explore the downtown of Hastings with lots of vintage shops, cafes and more.
On day four we went to Canterbury and had a very interesting city tour where we learned about the history of it. After the tour we went to a gym.
We met professional cricket players and learned something about their sport. In the afternoon we had some time to walk around Canterbury. Then, after a long day, we finally got on the bus and drove home. And even though our trip to England was very interesting and educating and we learned a lot about the English history and culture we were all happy to be back home and reunite with our families.
